5.1. Find Existing Templates

Last Updated 11/09/2023

Centralized Report Templates

The NC Cardinal team has developed an extensive array of report templates that provide the data that most libraries need. These reports are organized in the Centralized Report Templates under Shared Folders for your use, so please look here first for a suitable existing template. Read the descriptions carefully, as some reports are similar but use different filtering options.

Working from Centralized Templates

In order to ensure the templates can be kept organized and up to date, it's important that library staff do not build reports off the centralized templates. Instead, follow these steps to clone the templates into your own account and build your reports off the cloned versions.

  1. Navigate to the Centralized Report Template folder in the Shared Folder section of the reports interface. You can find it under Admin.
  2. Locate the template you plan to use within the appropriate subfolder. A detailed list is available in Appendix F of this book.
  3. When exploring template folders, be sure to select All instead of the default of 10 to see every option available in each folder.
All is the last option listed in the Limit output to dropdown menu.
  4. Check the box next to the template you plan to use.
  5. Choose Clone Selected template from the dropdown menu at the top of the list.
Clone Selected Template is the second choice in the dropdown menu.
  6. You will be directed to a list of available folders in your account. Select the folder in your account you will save the new template to.
  7. You will be directed to a new template interface. If you wish to make changes, such as adding or removing display fields, you may do so here.
  8. Save Template.

After completing these steps, follow the general instructions for running reports off of the templates as outlined in the Run a Report Template chapter of this Knowledge Book.

If you are unable to find what you are looking for, please submit a help ticket and the NC Cardinal support team will find or create a suitable template for you.
