To place batch holds on multiple items in a library catalog, staff and patrons can use the Basket function. In both the Staff Client and the OPAC, users should search the catalog, select desired titles by checking their boxes, then access the Basket Actions menu to choose "Place Hold."


When patrons request holds on several items at once that may all be discovered through catalog searches, staff or patrons can make a batch hold request using the Basket function.

Placing Batch Holds in the Staff Client

  1. Conduct a search in the catalog.
  2. Select any title the patron wants to place on hold by checking the boxes next to the result line.
  3. Continue reviewing results, or conduct another search.
  4. Once all titles have been selected, open the Basket Actions menu at the top of the results list.
  5. Select Place Hold.
  6. Enter patron barcode or search for patron using the Patron Search function availablein the Place Holds interface.
  7. Click the Place Holds button.
  8. Holds will be placed on all the selected titles from the basket, unless there is a cause to block the hold.

Placing Batch Holds in the OPAC

  1. Conduct a search in the catalog.
  2. Select any title the patron wants to place on hold by checking the boxes next to the result line.
  3. Continue reviewing results, or conduct another search.
  4. Once all titles have been selected, open the Basket Actions menu at the top of the page.
  5. Select Place Holds and click Go.
  6. Login.
  7. Click the Submit button.
  8. Holds will be placed on all the selected titles from the basket, unless there is a cause to block the hold.
